Refinishing

This is a question we often get asked. In any home renovation or construction project, there is a sequential order to the process of which trades goes before the other. We always recommend that the floor refinishing goes before painting. Even with our Dust Containment System (which removes approximately 90% of the dust from the refinishing process) there is still going to be fine dust left behind. Many times, customers hire us after the rooms have been painted and they tell us to be careful of the walls and baseboard.

The McVickar House is home to the Irvington Historical Society located on Main Street in Irvington, N.Y. 157 years old. The gymnasium floor was refinished in the summer of 2005. It is approximately 3,815 square feet. One coat of Bona sealer was applied first. Then games lines were painted for 1 basketball court, one volleyball court, solid keys, and the logo of SJE.
