Will and Sue Gilford began Gilford's Floorcovering in 1975 after Will had been laid off from an electronics manufacturing company in 1971 due to lack of contracts. With two tiny boys, a wife, and house payment to worry about he took a cut in pay and began a floorcovering apprentice program which led to work with Portland area stores.
