Established in 1987, Pelosi Wood Floors is a fourth generation flooring business started by Gene Pelosi's grandfather. Back in the early 1920's Gene's grandfather, Gino Pelosi, immigrated to Washington DC from Italy establishing his wood flooring business (in Southeast Washington DC). He handed down his knowledge to Gene's father, Gene Pelosi Sr., who took over his business and proceeded to pass on his knowledge of the trade to Gene Pelosi Jr., current owner of Pelosi Wood Floors, Inc.It continues to be an independently owned and operated family business proudly serving the greater Washington area.

When choosing the flooring best suited to your tastes and needs here are a few options for you to consider before you make your choice. Pre-finished Wood Flooring comes in a wide variety of wood species. The benefits of choosing pre-finished floors is there is no need to sand thus no dusty mess or requirement to wait on floors to dry.
Type of Paint: "Latex" and "oil base" are some terms used to categorize paint. Latex may actually be non-latex or artificial-latex water based paint. Most of these products still carry "latex" on the label. When you see a paint or stain product categorized as "acrylic" or "waterborne", it will probably have properties similar to that of latex paint, even if it does not include the term latex on the can.

I wasn't terribly impressed. I am giving this company 3 stars, as I only received an on-site estimate for.tread replacement for my stairs. The estimate was an outlier with the highest one of 5! The gentleman was nice to interact with and timely for the appointment. However, he did say he would work on the price and send the estimate to me but, I never receive it.

The Pelosi team first installed our red oak floors 14 years ago and there was no question we'd return to them when we embarked on a remodel project that required patching and refinishing. Gene and Gino are an absolute delight! So kind, professional and responsive. They both patiently answered my many questions along the way and were very flexible with their scheduling.
Their crew, Fernando and Hursen, were incredible. hard working, tireless in arriving early and staying late to get things done, detail oriented and did an INCREDIBLE job! Our floors looked amazing and we couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend Pelosi Wood Floors!

I am so happy with my experience with Pelosi Wood Floors. My floors look beautiful and match perfectly with my existing wood floors. Everyone was so professional. I wished I had done my basement floors with Pelosi instead of Lumber Liquidators, which did not go well. I would absolutely recommend them for a stress free and top quality installation.

We have worked with Pelosi Wood floors several times as we gradually refinished the beat-up floors in our 1960 home. Each time, his crew was on time, hard working, and incredibly neat--there was no mess at all even when the floors were sanded. The wood came out beautifully, and Mr. Pelosi managed to match floors that he had worked on nearly a year apart; you can't tell they weren't done at the same time. So far, he has done the living room, dining room and two bedrooms. I'm getting ready to call him to do our upstairs hallway and stairs.

I am using Pelosi for the second time and will continue to use them for installing and refinishing all my hardwood floors.they are so easy and professional to work wit. Gene (the owner) is highly responsive and easy to reach. His crew is neat and efficient (in and out in a few days when other companies said it could take over a week) and clean up beautifully.
I had used them previously to refinish floors and install in my bedrooms. Their prices were better than others and I felt minimal disruption. They are now installing hardwoods in my kitchen and, again, doing a beautiful job.

We have used Pelosi for 11 years for all kinds of projects from bathroom tile to hardwood floor installation and refinishing. Something seems to have happens in the last year or more and service has fallen off a cliff. We had issues with our basement floor installation and at the end of the day were told it was our product not the installation - even though an independent inspector came to assess the issue and confirmed it was the installation.
We used to recommend them to friends and neighbors but won't be doing that anymore and have moved on to Royal Floors who have come in behind Pelosi and did an amazing job.

I couldn't be happier with Pelosi Wood Floors. They came highly recommended from a neighbor who had them do multiple jobs. Pelosi refinished the red oak flooring on most of our first floor and the stairway, used a Jacobean stain after sanding, applied 3 coats of satin finish, and then installed new toe-moulding. The finished product is beautiful, and their crew was very reliable, friendly, and professional. I would definitely use them again.
