When I was contractor in NYC I frequently had to find esoteric parts to rebuild.say contoured brass weather strips for 70 year old double hung windows. I found a mom and pop vendor that had a machine to produce the strips, located in their living room, somewhere in the borough of Queens. They not only reproduced the strips, they fed me lunch and entertained me with an oral history of brass strip manufacturing.
